Newcastle United duo Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson have been called up for England duty for next month's Euro 2024 qualifying clashes with Malta and North Macedonia. The pair both featured for Gareth Southgate's side at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and will be hoping to play a part in next year's tournament.
Trippier enjoyed a stellar campaign as part of Eddie Howe's backline, with Newcastle boasting the meanest defence in the Premier League this term. Wilson's club form suffered after his World Cup jaunt but the forward has been back to his best of late, notching eight goals in April alone.
Unfortunately the two St James' Park favourites won't be joined by any club team-mates on international duty in June with Nick Pope missing out after undergoing hand surgery. The United goalkeeper has brought the surgery forward after Champions League football was secured earlier this week.

Joe Willock was expected to be in with a shout of a call-up before pulling up with a hamstring injury against Brighton last week. The Arsenal academy graduate has been one of the standout players of Newcastle's season and many believed he would have deserved his maiden call-up.
“That is my dream you know, to play for England," the midfielder said last month. “I feel like if I keep working hard and keep pushing, I have definitely got the ability to get selected one day.
There is also no room for Dan Burn or Sean Longstaff despite the duo enjoying fine campaigns on Tyneside. Rumoured Newcastle target James Maddison will feature.
Speaking last month, after overcoming his poor post-World Cup form, Wilson said" You give so much at the beginning of the season, you want to achieve your childhood dream of playing in a World Cup, you get there and once you're there you have to reset your goals quickly and be mentally and physically and emotionally ready to give your all for Newcastle.
"I think coming straight back without any break didn't do me any good really. We had cup games we needed to be involved in straight away. You try to hit the ground running but I found it difficult to find that form that I had previously.
"A bit of fatigue, a bit of complacency, the motivation had come down a little bit because it's mid-season, I'd played at the World Cup, it was my first tournament for my country, so it was a new experience for me and one where there's a few things I'd change now. But I definitely felt I had to get my act together again and start performing for Newcastle."
