England rugby fans mocked in TV advert ahead of Australia Test series

The Australians have stirred the pot ahead of this summer's Test series by poking fun at the perception England rugby fans are posh.

A TV advert for Stan Sport's coverage of the matches portrays a group of England rugby followers as stuffy and over-confident as they enjoy a tea party at 'The Royal Sydney High Tea Room'.

Then, amid their complaints about Australian beer being 'too cold', 135kg Aussie giant Taniela Tupou makes his way towards the tea party in muddy boots and full Wallaby kit. The English fans are depicted as sunburnt and spitting their cake over the table as the Queensland Reds powerhouse leans in to steal a scone.

One of the party-goers says: "It's nice to know we'll be cheering on the winners!" Tupou pats the gentleman on the back and quips back: "Thank you for the support mate!", before asking someone else on the table if they are going to finish their cake!

Edgy TV adverts used to be more of thing around the Six Nations, before one controversial effort was pulled because it made fun of the English.

England will kick off their Test series against Australia on Saturday July 2. The tour will span three weekends, starting in Perth before concluding in Sydney on July 16th. Eddie Jones' team haven't had the best start to the summer, as the Barbarians beat England 52-21 on the weekend.

Wales also begin their summer series on July 2, taking on South Africa in Pretoria.
