England: Lee Carsley teases changes for Finland clash in Nations League

Lee Carsley is planning “two or three changes” to the England team for the visit of Finland on Tuesday.

Harry Kane will captain the team on the occasion of his 100th cap when Finland are the visitors to Wembley for the Three Lions’ second match of their Nations League campaign in Group B2.

Carsley’s interim tenure began in winning fashion on Saturday when England won 2-0 in Ireland. Angel Gomes and Morgan Gibbs-White earned debuts off the bench in Dublin, with first-time call-ups Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento hoping for their maiden senior appearances against Finland.

“We’ll make two or three changes, freshen the team up a bit,” Carsley said. “I’m looking forward to the game. If you make 11 changes, it maybe sends out the wrong signal. I don’t see wholesale changes.

“Some players are still in that pre-season phase given their time off over the summer, so we have to manage that.

“They’ve all got a chance of playing. We’ve been very fortunate this week. There’s no one that can’t play a full 90 minutes.”

Ahead of becoming only the 10th man to play 100 times for England, Kane said: “It’s realty special. Sometimes it’s hard for it to sink in when these moments come while you’re still playing.

“It shows great consistency over a long period of time [to reach 100 caps. Some of the others who have achieved it are some of our greatest ever players.

“It’s a moment, when I’m retired, that I’ll probably look back on with immense pride.”

Kane will be honoured for the achievement by the FA ahead of kick-off, and there will also be a tribute to the recent passing of ex-England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
