Justin Langer has been linked with the vacant England head coach job, following Chris Silverwood's departure after the Ashes.
England's interim managing director Sir Andrew Strauss has admitted that Langer is in the frame as a potential replacement for Silverwood, saying: "I know him well.
"On the surface, he's done a very good job of things with the Australian cricket team. So I wouldn't rule him out, but I'm sure there are plenty of others as well."
Langer recently quit as Australia's coach, with captain Pat Cummins saying the players felt they needed "a new style of coaching".
Despite England's interest in Langer, the 51-year-old is in-demand, with his manager James Henderson telling News Corp : "There's a lot of interest in Justin’s availability from all around the world.
"We've received a lot of approaches inside and outside the game. I'm sure Justin Langer won’t be unemployed next summer."
One of the other parties interested in Langer is Sri Lanka, who are searching for a new head coach after Mickey Arthur stepped down from the role in November to take over as Derbyshire's head of cricket.
Aravinda de Silva, chairman of Sri Lanka's cricket committee, confirmed their interest in Langer, telling Code Sports : "We are in the process of looking for a national coach.
"If [Langer is] available we would like to have a chat to him, to see his interest levels. It [would] be something we’d be happy to look at, for sure.
"You need to understand the players’ mindset. You need to basically have someone who understands and becomes a father figure and also to mitigate the language barrier.
"That’s been one of the major issues. We need to have someone who gets the right message across and understands our culture as well. These are things that we have been focusing on in finding the right candidate."
