England centre-back Lotte Wubben-Moy has tested positive for Covid and has left the team’s Euro 2022 camp.
The FA say the Arsenal defender has returned home and will be monitored with a view to returning as soon as possible.
Wubben-Moy was an unused substitute during England’s 1-0 opening night victory over Austria and now seems almost certain to miss Monday’s second group game, against Norway at the Amex Stadium.
The 23-year-old, who made her senior debut last year, is a regular for her club side, forging a strong centre-back partnership with England captain Leah Williamson.
Williamson has been more regularly deployed in central midfield by England boss Sarina Wiegman, but the Dutch coach sprang something of a surprise by returning her skipper to centre-half against the Austrians at Old Trafford.
Ahead of the clash with Norway, who impressed in thumping Northern Ireland 4-1 in their opening game on Thursday, Wiegman must decide whether to restore Williamson to midfield. Should she take that option, Manchester City defender Alex Greenwood will likely partner Millie Bright at centre-back.
