England cricketer Stuart Broad and Mollie King's romance - devastating split, marriage wait and baby joy

Stuart Broad is currently serving up some theatre in the Ashes, and his romance with singer Mollie King has had plenty of sub plots along the way.

After more twists and turns than the first series of the cricket epic, they now seem to have it all after being bowled over by each other.

They were both left in a leg-spin a number of times before deciding to put the past to one side and making it work. They were first rumoured to be dating in 2012 and were in an on-off relationship until they called it a day back in 2018.

Mollie admitted her knowledge of cricket was not exactly good when she and Stuart met when a pal asked her to send him a get-well message while he was recovering from injury.

Having been back together for five months, the former Strictly star and England cricketer called time on their relationship and unfollowed each other on social media.

That seemed to be that but according to sources they actually broke up on good terms - and that proved to be the key to their future reunion.

They got together for a second time when Stuart split from his girlfriend, lingerie model Bealey Mitchell, after three years together. The sportsman and The Saturdays singer would find each other again and rekindled their romance in 2019.

They agreed that this time it had to be for good and they got engaged on New Year's Day 2021. But there were more issues ahead.

Hoping to tie the knot later that summer, things didn't go to plan for the exited love bird who had to play the waiting game.

They reportedly felt things were too uncertain amid the Coronavirus pandemic and instead decided to delay their wedding and found it difficult to book a venue for ages.

"It's obviously been a tricky time to plan a wedding - we were looking at trying to do it last summer but then it just felt too risky, that it might get cancelled," he told The Express.

"It's certainly at the forefront of our minds and it will happen at the beginning of next year."

But two years on, they've still not tied the knot. It's fair to say they have had other things on their mind - and became buried under a mountain of nappies.

Welcoming their first child together at the end of last year, it's no surprise the nuptials were put on the back-burner.

They announced the wonderful news with a joint post on Instagram which showed the singer cradling the baby girl dressed in a fluffy onesie. They posted another of the sports star kissing her face while holding her.

"Welcome to the world Annabella Broad. We have never been so in love," the pair wrote as they revealed their daughter's name.

The singer's bandmate Rochelle Humes was among the first to offer her congratulations, writing "gorgeous". ‘I had to go from zero to a hundred,’ she laughs. ‘Now I have a good understanding of the game.’

The big day is still on the cards, though. While it is not known if they have set a date, Mollie clearly knows what she wants.

"We want it to be relaxed and chilled, and a really fun party," she told Tatler.
