England ratings

Sam Tomkins - 7: A few shaky moments in the first half but came up with two magnificent defensive plays after the break.

Tommy Makinson - 9: England's best player in the first half and backed it up after the break. Really good performance by the St Helens winger who produced a try-saver late on.

Kallum Watkins - 6: Showed some decent touches but his big moments didn't come off for him.

Jake Wardle - 8: Scored the opening try of the game and was a ball threat all evening. Excellent display.

Ryan Hall - 6: Quiet first half but was improved after the break, carrying stronger and defending well.

Jack Welsby - 7: Bags of energy and enterprise on an impressive debut for his country.

George Williams - 7: An improvement on his club form. Kicked well and bagged a try.

Alex Walmsley - 6: Perhaps a victim of his own excellence but not as noticeable as usual.

Michael McIlorum - 7: Did himself no harm here. Typically solid performance on his return after nine years in the cold.

Mike Cooper - 6: Started very well but faded.

Liam Farrell - 7: Still not convinced he's had a bad game, ever.

Mike McMeeken - 7: Made an impression on his return to that national setup. Strong throughout.

John Bateman - 8: Really steps up for his country. Outstanding performance that came with a try.

Matty Lees - 7: Ferocious carries throughout. Played really well.

Mikolaj Oledzki - 7: Got through a tonne of work off the bench and impressed again.

Paul McShane - 5: Poor defensive read after coming on and just never got going after that.

Joe Batchelor - 5: Deserved England debut but was perhaps guilty of trying too hard.

All-Stars Ratings

Peter Mata'utia - 5: Out of position and struggled with some of the subtleties.

Ken Sio - 6: Took his try well but was otherwise quiet.

Rhyse Martin - 6: Another full of effort.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall - 5: Just couldn't quite nail key moments.

Mahe Fonua - 7: All Stars' strongest ball carrier out of back play.

Jacob Miller - 6: Tried to control the game and did OK without being an obvious threat.

Brodie Croft - 7: A massive threat in the first half. Real running halfback who causes problems.

Ligi Sao - 7: Got through a phenomenal amount of work.

Daryl Clark - 6: Some nice moments in his first stint.

Zane Tetevano - 6: Cracked on and chipped away.

Kenny Edwards - 6: At times was a threat but just a few too many errors.

Kelepi Tanginoa - 6: Made one great break but had errors in his game defensively.

Matt Prior - 6: Was great when he was on but only lasted 15 minutes and didn't return.

Kruise Leeming - 8: All Stars' best after coming on. Given Shaun Wane plenty to think about.

Joe Lovodua - 5: Not his day unfortunately. Just didn't go for him.

Chris Satae - 6: Was steady but not spectacular.

David Fifita - 6: A few cheap penalties in and amongst but caused issues with the ball.
