YAMUNANAGAR: The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) on Tuesday ordered dismissal of its executive engineer (XeN) from service, allegedly for committing embezzlement of about Rs 48.99 crore in the name of gratuity payment to 1,049 fake retirees of the UHBVN.
A special audit team deputed to conduct audit in the UHBVN offices at Bilaspur and Jagadhri, by chief auditor, UHBVN, Panchkula, found that the embezzlement was committed in the office of XeN, sub-urban division, Jagadhri in Yamunanagar district, under which, the transactions of payment of DCRG (Gratuity) was done for the period April 2018 to May 2021.
The UHBVN order reads that the XeN, "committed a serious fraud by signing the cheques and schedules/cash vouchers containing the names of persons who were not found the bonafide pensioners/retirees of UHBVN as no GPO was ever issued in respect of such persons to whom payments were made by him (XeN)".
