Families get compensation cheques for £2.3 TRILLION in epic banking mix up

A UK energy supplier has apologised to 74 of their customers after they were accidentally issued Storm Arwen compensation cheques of more than £2.3trillion.

Compensation is being paid to tens of thousands of Northern Powergrid customers who were left without power when severe "once in a generation" winds swept across the country last November.

Gareth Hughes from Hebden Bridge, West Yorks., shared an image on Twitter of the eye-watering number he received in the post on Saturday.
