Energy consultancy EnAppSys expands into German and Hungarian markets

A North East consultancy which provides insights into the energy market is sharpening its expansion plans by entering new markets in Germany and Hungary.

Launched in 2003, Stockton-based EnAppSys provides data, consultancy and information services to companies in the energy and power generation markets. Its services are used by some of the biggest wholesale energy market participants including generators, stakeholders, suppliers and traders, to improve their understanding of the market and maximise values.

The company already operates across several European markets, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Ireland, and is well established in the UK. The firm has now signed a lease on an office in Dusseldorf, Germany, and established a presence in Central Eastern Europe with the appointment of Hungary-based Gábor Szatmári. The move follows the recent appointment of a market analyst in Paris to strengthened its presence in the French market.

The firm expanded into the Netherlands five years ago by opening an office in Zeeland to add to its head office on the Preston Farm Business Park. The developments are part of EnAppSys’ ambitious plans, which will see the firm triple headcount to more than 100 in the next couple of years. The company, which was launched by director Phil Hewitt, currently has almost 30 staff.

Mr Hewitt said: “We’ve been around for almost 20 years and in the last couple of years we’ve really stepped up our expansion plans. Our recent rapid growth has seen us gain traction in various European markets, secure a raft of new customers, and recruit key members of staff who will take us into our next phase of growth.

“We’re looking to expand further across Europe but we’ll continue to do so from our Teesside roots. Our strong links with local universities and research institutions has enabled us to hire several talented professionals who have underpinned our recent expansion in the UK and overseas.”

EnAppSys also offers energy transition services, helping consumers to schedule their consumption to make it as green and cheap as possible. Earlier this year the business was crowned company of the year at the Tees Tech Awards 2022.
