Energy company Utilita starts paying customers for using electricity during off peak times

Utilita has launched a brand new trial that pays its customers for not using electricity during busy times.

It urges people to avoid using too much energy between 5pm and 10.30pm, and could save all Utilita customers £61m annually.

It's currently being tested by 1,000 customers. As part of the trial, people will receive a text an hour before each ‘payback’ event, of which there will be one per week, Hull Live reports.
