The founder of the third biggest energy supplier in the UK has spoken out about a household bill plan which would offer support to the country's poorest households. Ovo Energy founder Stephen Fitzpatrick says that now is the time for action, before the winter hits, and is calling for a Fuel Poverty Task Force to be formed.
Mr Fitzpatrick says that there must be government subsidies brought in for those struggling with energy bills in the continuing cost of living crisis. So far, the government has pledged to offer extra support - when a new prime minister has taken office.
The 10-point plan from Mr Fitzpatrick has been published in full on the Ovo website. It says: "We know that the record-level increases in energy prices are unsettling for millions of households across the country. Since prices first started to rise, we have been working with the regulator, government, consumer groups and industry to limit the impact on household energy bills as much as possible.
