Cyrenians OPAL in partnership with Xcite Ageing Well hosted the conclusive event of the OPAL & Xcite Games 2022.
To celebrate Healthy Ageing Month and National Fitness day, teams across West Lothian were invited to take part in games which included new age kurling, bean bag game, 10 pin bowling and quoits, all in the spirit of friendly competition.
Once all the games were completed and the scores were tallied, everyone would then come together for the celebratory presentation event taking place in Whitburn Bowling Club on Thursday, September 22.
In the two weeks leading up to the presentation event, 24 teams took part in these games from different groups in the communities of West Lothian and they were then all invited along to the final event.
Attendees of the events enjoyed refreshments of tea and coffee with fresh scones from a local bakery.
It was then time for the awards ceremony of medals and trophies for all the winners and participants, which was presented by the Whitburn Citizen of the Year, Cathie Farren. And finally, everyone hit the dance floor with a daytime disco from Weekday WOW Factor.
The group passed on their thanks to Big Bird Nursery in Whitburn for the certificates made by the children and Morrisons Livingston for the refreshments.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you to everyone for taking part in the games and coming along to the event from Billie at OPAL and Avril at Xcite. This event couldn’t have taken place without the amazing work of all our volunteers at OPAL and Xcite.”
