Endura knows all about making the best mountain biking apparel that's ready to cope with the harshest of weather. After all Endura HQ is based in Scotland, just outside Edinburgh, and Scottish weather can deliver four seasons in one day at anytime of the year. The brand that's been around since 1993, has now, just in time for winter updated its flagship Endura MT500 clothing range, and added new items in their SingleTrack range too. The update also sees the brand launch the all-new Endura MT500 Burner waterproof shoe, developed alongside the Atherton's and Endura athletes Joe Barnes and Kris Kyle. We had a sneak look at the shoe at Core Bike earlier in the year, and also had a look over the just launched new items, dropped by Endura, and the built-in tech to see how they stack up in the crowded best mountain bike clothing market.
MT500 Burner shoe
Brand new for the winter season is the Endura MT500 Waterproof shoe, and Endura has built this shoe from the ground up. The upper features a highly durable fabric that has a fully waterproof, yet breathable Exoshell membrane ready for muddy and wet weather riding. They also feature a unique rubber compound that gives the Burner a softer ‘StickyFoot Grip’ for maximum flat pedal grip. As well as a flat pedal option, the MT500 waterproof shoe comes in a clipless version too. A speed lace system and extra waterproof cover are also added for a secure fit and to keep feet dry and mud-free out on the trails. The Endura MT500 Waterproof Boot is priced at $199.99 / £169.99 for the clipped version and $189.99 / £159.99 for the flat pedal model, and comes in either Black or Orange coloring.
MT500 updated
The MT500 clothing range is designed for riders wanting to shred through winter, and the range gets some new items and updated colorways. The waterproof MT500 jacket and MT500 trousers are renowned for coping with foul weather epics and have exceptional breathability and waterproof ratings, they remain the same, but get two new colors added.
All new is the MT500 Thermal long sleeve, a super versatile piece of clothing which can be worn as as a mid-layer, outer-layer, overlayer, underlayer or however else you can imagine. Already a key piece in the best mountain bike riders winter wardrobe, this new version adds a neat fitting hood to its rich feature list that includes windproof panels strategically placed in exposed areas to keep you warm. The windproof fabric is also durable and will brush off encounters with trailside obstacles. New colorways are in Aubergine and Blueberry priced at $139.99 / £99.99.
The Women's MT500 Burner pants as worn by Rachel Atherton have a proven track record for downhill mountain biking durability with a 4-way stretch fabric and multiple zipped pockets. Capable of being worn with the best knee pad protection and have Clickfast poppers on the inner waistband which allow you to securely fix any Endura Clickfast liner shorts. Brand new coloring for female riders, the Harvest (Orange) MT500 pants are priced at $TBC / £114.99.
The new MT500 Burner Lite Pullovers are a smock-style jacket with claimed category-leading waterproofing and breathability ratings. Endura says a clever balance of fabrics and carefully selected features mean it's a great all-day MTB jacket, durable and lightweight, it can also be packed down small when not in use.
MT500 Spray range gets a new MT500 Spray Gilet to join the popular MT500 Spray Trousers. A new packable core protector with waterproof panels in all the right places, which is ideal for those in-between temperature days when you want a bit of protection from the weather. Lightweight and extremely durable 4-way stretch fabric is used alongside carefully placed fully waterproof panels to put the weather protection exactly where it's needed. SingleTrack jacket
The SingleTrack range also sees a drop of fresh new colours for men and women along with some new items. The Women's SingleTrack jacket II leads the way in style in a colorway that matches the new Women's MT500 Burner pants. This new trail-friendly, technical SingleTrack softshell jacket looks good but has the technical credentials to back up its looks. Featuring an extremely soft, noise-free outer fabric, a superfine denier tricot inner layer, and a thin PU membrane inbetween called Exoshell20, the jacket is claimed to exceeds expectations of comfort and performance, and has a 10,000mm waterproof rating. Priced at $199.99 / £174.99.
