A Somerset Live reporter visited recently and said it felt like "stepping back in time" as they viewed the cobbled streets of Bradford-on-Avon. Shops, cafes and restaurants built into historic buildings run alongside both banks of the river, which is crisscrossed by several picturesque bridges, some over 700 years old.

The iconic 14th century Town Bridge is a popular attraction in Bradford-on-Avon, which gives the village a touch of charm complemented by the beautiful blossoms and stunning statues found in the grounds of the Grade I-listed Ilford Manor Gardens.

The Saxon Tithe Barn is also a Grade II* listed building that adds to character to the village, which traces its history back to the Roman era and was an important hub for wool production.

Located in the south of the Cotswolds, tourists gave the town top marks on TripAdvisor. Discussing Iford Manor one person wrote: "What a lovely garden, restaurant/cafe and staff in a beautiful setting. We took an impromptu visit and were not disappointed."

Another said: "Culinary delights await at Iford Manor's new restaurant. It was all simply delicious and simply divine sitting in the open air terrace/restaurant on a recent summer's day. Afterwards we wandered the gardens...Iford is what a garden should be...'lived in' and not overly 'done' but confidently nestled in loads of history...interesting plants...beautiful vistas...and Harold Peto's stunning arrangement of Italianate features."
