Empty Topman and Topshop in Swansea city centre filled with new clothing retailer

It left a huge gaping void in Swansea city centre's main shopping thoroughfare when its doors closed for good. Topman was one of the mainstays of Oxford Street for generations until the company behind the retail giant went into administration.

Arcadia Group, which owned Topshop and Topman, went into administration on November 30, 2020, placing 13,000 jobs at risk. In January, 2021, online clothing retailer ASOS purchased the group, but it only wanted the brands, not the shops. You can read more about that by clicking here. But after years of being left empty, there has been a very welcome sight as a new business has finally moved into the vacant former shop in the form of women's clothes retailer Lime.

Whilst Topman and Topshop signage still covers the exterior of the building, the windows are decorated with mannequins dressed with the latest fashion designs on offer from Lime to lure customers into the new store. Once inside, you'll find a range of clothes from many different designer brands.

The new arrival comes on the back of another planned addition to Swansea city centre in the form of Cattle & Co, which will take up the site of the former Three Lamps bar in Castle Square. You can read more about that by clicking here.
