Empty feeling as fans trickle in for Cricket World Cup opener

NEW DELHI: The ICC ODI World Cup opener between defending champions England and New Zealand faced mostly empty stands in India’s biggest 1,32,000-seater Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

The number of fans that tickled down to the stadium were in a few hundreds and many of them donned the India t-shirts and had their faces painted in tri-color.
