Emotional Susanna Reid walks out of GMB studio to comfort mum of missing Levi Davis

Emotions ran high during today's (Jan 25) episode of Good Morning Britain as host Susanna Reid left the set to console a tearful mum of missing rugby star, Levi Davis. Julie Davis appeared on the show to discuss the ongoing search for her son, who has been missing for three months after last being seen in Barcelona on October 29, as reported by the Mirror.

The heart-breaking segment saw Julie break down as she spoke about CCTV that showed Levi - who also went on celebrity X Factor - exiting the Old Irish Pub near the Las Ramblas, just hours after he arrived to the Spanish city on a boat from Ibiza. Since then, there have been some unconfirmed sightings of the 24-year-old, with his passport discovered near the city's port.

Speaking about her son's disappearance, Julie told Susanna and her co-host Ed Balls: "It's been very very difficult, I've been trying to take one day at a time. Recently I started back work, just to have some kind of normality because I think sitting at home, looking at the four walls is doing my head in.

"Also on that night, he made a phone call to me to say he was thinking of staying at a hostel here before I take my next journey. I said, oh Levi, how many more times do you wanna take money off me? You're going to have to sort yourself out this time.

"He said he had some friends he could get in touch with and that's the last phone call we had." Julie struggled to hold her emotions in as she then began sobbing at admitting to having a feeling that something was wrong.

Julie Davis was comforted by Susanna Reid as she expressed her frustration towards the lack of news and updates about her son's disappearance (Good Morning Britain ITV)

"Just before he left, there was a message that - maybe the powers up above - that just said to me, just give him a hug as you don't know if it'll be your last," she said. Susanna quickly lent over the news desk to hold her hand and console her as she cried.

Julie added how she wished she knew of more information about the search investigation, as she was forced to go through the British consulate because of the language barrier between her and the Spanish police. "The Spanish police, they've done their bit as well." She said.

"Where it's been quite difficult is not having the information come through because there's a language barrier. Having to go via the British consulate and then the feedback of news and updates is very slow.

"I know they're pressing but in terms of updates, we got information back saying unfortunately it's too late. The Spanish police had to go to court to get papers signed so they could access the CCTV coverage. By the time they got it, it was too late."

"Julie we're all with you, we'll keep on it. Our hearts are with you. Lots of love ok," Susanna said while still holding her hand. The show then cut to an ad break, and upon return, Ed Balls was seen presenting the show on his own.

He confirmed Susanna had stepped out of the studio momentarily to console and support Julie. After about 15 minutes, Susanna came back, apologising for her time away. She then praised Julie for being a "tower of strength".

According to the Mirror, private investigators searching for Levi say he was fleeing criminals and may have tragically drowned at a Barcelona port. But friends and family have not heard from him since.

Levi's family then hired a private investigator in a bid to find him, offering £10,000 to anyone with information leading to him being found. But now it’s been claimed that Levi was convinced he was being chased by criminals.

An unnamed member of the team of private detectives told La Vanguardia newspaper: “Davis came to Barcelona fleeing from these criminals."
