Rob Burrow and his family were given a rapturous reception as they completed the Leeds Arena Group Mini and Junior Run. Following on from the success of the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, in May, the Leeds Rhinos legend took part in a deserved lap of honour.
The rugby league great was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019 and, as all know, has worked tirelessly alongside wife Lindsey Burrow, friends and family to increase awareness of the condition.
He was supporting those taking part in the Leeds 10k, Arena Group Leeds Mini and junior run. The Leeds 10K started at 9am, followed by the Arena Group Leeds Mini run at 9.45am and Junior run at 9.55am.
The event began outside the University of Leeds’ Parkinson Building, with the route taking in Headingly and finishing in the city centre, LeedsLive reports.
Photos from the event showed him being pushed along by his daughters Maya, 8, and 11-year-old Macy. They were accompanied by Rob's wife, Lindsey.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Macy said: “I’m super duper excited to be pushing Daddy round, and to be seeing all the crowds.
"It's so lovely to see people coming out to support to 10K and the fun run."
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Lindsey said: "To be here with the family today is just really special.
“He's such a family man so to be here today with the children, for us it's just about making special memories.
“I'm incredibly proud of Rob. The courage and resilience he has shown to go out and do that. It takes a special type of person.”
