Emotional pictures have shown the moment Kate Garraway was watched by her husband Derek Draper as she was awarded her MBE. It was revealed at the end of 2021 that the Good Morning Britain presenter would be receiving the honour in recognition for her services to broadcasting, journalism, and charity.
She was named in the late Queen's New Year's Honours list with the now-55-year-old's award coming after she's spent the last three years documenting Derek's battle after contracting coronavirus devastated his body.
TV and radio star Kate admitted at the time that she felt "very awkward" about her recognition after several decades in the industry. "They had sent a letter saying would you accept and I said, 'yes'," Kate explained about finding out she was to receive an MBE during an appearance on GMB in January last year.

She revealed that the letter had actually been picked up and first read by her sister-in-law as Derek was spending time in and out of hospital. "I didn't tell anybody, I didn't even tell my parents because I didn't want to tempt fate. On New Year's Eve, it didn't feel real until people started saying congratulations."
However, the mum-of-two also responded to some of the backlash to the announcement and admitted: "There have been a few comments since it was announced from people saying: 'Why has she got this? I look after my loved one.'"
Kate then pointed out that it "is not for looking after Derek", adding: "But there's lots of people you feel deserve it more," she added before her ITV co-stars reassured her that she was a deserving recipient.
And on Wednesday (June 28), Kate was finally given her MBE by the Prince of Wales during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. Derek was able to watch his wife, with the help of a career who has previously appeared on Kate's social media channels, pick up her prestigious honour alongside her parents, Gordon and Marilyn Garraway.
Pictures taken from inside Windsor show Kate being given her MBE by Prince William as her proud family watched from the sidelines. There was then a moment she looked over to her husband and her parents, with the Prince's hand on her shoulder, as he gave her loved ones a wave.
Kate, who looked angelic in a cream dress that featured pearl details around the collar and cuffs and a belt around the waist, was then able to enjoy the moment with Derek, Gordon and Marilyn as they posed for photos in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
