An Edinburgh Marathon runner proposed to his girlfriend after the pair reached the finishing line of the 26 mile race.
The event took place on May 28, with one man using the opportunity to get down on one knee to ask his partner to marry him. The touching engagement was caught by onlookers, giving the happy couple plenty of chances to look back on their special moment.
Edinburgh Live reports that those gathered on the sidelines to watch the marathon shifted their focus on the couple to cheer them on as they exchanged a ring. And after footage was uploaded to the Edinburgh Marathon Facebook page, other participants were quick to comment in support.
One supporter said: "Congratulations to you both, and here's to many more years of happiness. Who needs a romantic restaurant when a marathon event is just as magic to propose!"
Another added: "Congratulations! We had a chat at the start line, so glad you got to do it as planned, delighted for you both!"
A third commented: "I'm the idiot skipping past. I saw the guy pull his girlfriend out of the crowd, but despite passing right by I missed the actual proposal!"
After the woman says yes, the couple continue on to the finish line which is just metres away. Keen to beat his finish time, she leaves him in the dust - quite right. The couples finish times for the marathon are unclear, but we're sure in years to come that won't be what they remember about that day.
Edinburgh Live has approached the couple for comment.
