Emmerdale viewers are convinced that they have ‘worked out’ the real reason Charles couldn’t officially marry Tracy and Nate after the shock kidnap.
During tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, things were off to a dramatic start as Nate was kidnapped by Moira Barton and Cain Dingle.
After hearing Nate was heading to the town hall, Moira and Cain got worried that he was about to fight for custody of the baby daughter he shares with Tracy so they followed him.

Things got even more complicated when they saw Tracy standing on the steps in a wedding dress with another man. They became convinced that Nate was about to crash her wedding so knocked him unconscious and kidnapped him.
As they got back to the village, Nate woke up and revealed that he was there to marry Tracy. Moments later Tracy could be seen waiting in a white wedding dress while holding baby Frankie in her arms.
Realising they made a mistake, Moira and Cain helped them get to the local vicar, Charles so they could get married.
While he goes through with the ceremony, he insists he is not able to officially marry Nate and Tracy, prompting Nate's father Cain to pronounce them husband and wife.
Viewers were quick to spot that Nate and Tracey’s marriage was not official as Charles didn’t pronounce them husband and wife - and they think they know why.

It turns out, the banns were never read first. For those getting married at a church, the 'banns' are something that need to be announced in advance of the ceremony, usually at least a week or two before the big day.
That process involves putting the banns up publicly in the church as well as literally reading the banns aloud in a ceremony at the church. It harkens back to old timey laws about making sure nobody in the community objects to the wedding, to stop things such as bigamy.
