As Emmerdale viewers will know, the show will soon be marking its 50th birthday and ITV bosses have offered some details about what we can expect - from the return of old characters, the demise of current characters and a whole heap of drama.
The plans for the big bash are currently underway and executive producers have already teased the return of several Emmerdale legends to mark the soap milestone.
Soap boss Jane Hudson verified this along with a look at more of what's to come, she said: "Our shows most beloved character's are going to be put to the test in some major emotional stories.
"Whatever happens in the 50th is going to have a major impact on us, this trend will continue through 2023."
We asked Yorkshire Live readers to post their wish lists of what they would like to see happen in the 50th episode, from which characters they would like to see return, who they would like to see the back of and what they would like to see happen.
And the responses did not disappoint, so take a look at the wish list below at the most commonly mentioned wants for Emmerdale's big 50th.
Several fans of the long-running ITV soap mentioned they would like to see Paul return from Portugal for the 50th anniversary.
Characters you want to see return
Multiple fans said they want to see the return of Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller, the character left the village last year when actor Danny quit the role after 13 years to pursue other career options.
Bridget McLaughlin said: "I would like to see Aaron back and have a new love match for him but the entire show is lacking something just now and I just cannot put my finger on it!"
Meanwhile one person would also like to see Robert go free, Prudence Smith said: "Let Robert out of prison on a technicality, and bring Aaron back." Another fan Sam LouLou agreed: "Robert and Aaron would be good. What about Sam, Matt and Dolly's son."
Eilen Joyce added: "Would be great to see Eli, Aaron and Robert back but please don’t ever bring back Meena!" Another fan Ann Wilson had a few ideas for returning characters, she said: "Robert can come back help Victoria solve David's problems. Andy to come back, Sarah needs him, her grans dying."
Characters you went to see killed off
After Murderous Meena's reign of terror it seems many viewers just want to keep the peace and most importantly, keep their beloved characters! Most viewers stated that they don't want to see any more character's being killed off.
Superfan Barry Mahar said: "Does anyone have to be killed off? Meena was more than enough. Why not a happy 50th Anniversary instead of butchery for the sake of it."
Tina Rotko agreed: "No more killing characters off. Too much murder stories already done. Some fun and happiness would be a really nice for a change. And for a returning character, Eli Dingle." Bridget McLaughlin agreed: "Don't want any more deaths in the show as its just too much especially since the Meena escapades!"
Another fan Colin Miles added: "Nobody to killed off. That's the problem with Emmerdale more unlawful actions in a small village then in big city. Please bring back comedy." Irene Brown agreed: "No more killings."
What fans want to see happen
It seems some people are just sick of all the drama and want to see at least one couple remain happy and together, one fan Linda Armstrong said: "Just let one couple be happy.....but most of all, faithful ! Make a nice change" another viewer Mo Selley agreed: "Yeah, I agree."
And there is one couple in particular that got more than a few mentions, Cheryl Jones said: "Paddy and Mandy back together."
It appears Emmerdale fans are hopeless romantics as they long for more couples to rekindle, Shaun Lynch said: "Would love to see charity and Vanessa back together."
There were some interesting theories for what fans would like to see happen around the village too, Val Oakes said: "I would like to see bear take over the farm and it become a farm with animals and a couple of dogs around, bring Meena back by showing what she is up to in prison, bring someone fresh in to run the pub."
The Woolpack got a fair few mentions and it seems viewers think it's time for a new owner already! Prudence Smith said: "Definitely needs new management in the pub, someone more gregarious than Chas, she hasn't the personality for the hospitality trade and is to snappy and sarcastic too everyone. Even without covid and Meena killing off half the village it would be empty, who'd want to go and relax in a pub with that atmosphere?"
Another fan Carol Jones is praying for a miracle: "I would like to see a ‘miracle’ that means that Faith’s cancer magically disappears!"
