Emmerdale viewers 'heartbroken' as 'favourite' character killed in 50th anniversary storm

Emmerdale fans were left devastated after scenes in Wednesday night's episode revealed the latest victim of the 50th anniversary storm. In heartbreaking scenes, Liv Flaherty played by Isobel Steele, became the second character to die as a result of the horrendous windstorm that has hit the village.

It comes after final scenes on Tuesday night, showed Liv and Vinny trapped underneath a caravan outside David's shop whilst making a journey to The Woolpack to look after Chas and Paddy's daughter Eve. But when the scenes resumed on Wednesday, Vinny managed to free himself but Liv had been badly crushed and once the emergency services arrived, Paddy had to explain to Liv's family that they weren't able to rescue her.

They were told to say their goodbyes and her brother Aaron, played by Danny Miller, was the first to sit with her as he told her he loved her and that he couldn't have wished for a "better little sister". Her husband Vinny, played by Bradley Johnson, then sat by her side and spoke of the pets they were going to own and how they would buy a van and travel the world before Liv spoke her last words saying: "I never knew anyone could make me so happy".

The character was much-loved among Emmerdale fans and many viewers commented how they had been left "heartbroken" by the emotional scenes and had been in tears. A number of viewers also added how "amazing" actress Isobel had been in her final scenes.

Dan Howe said: "That’s one of the saddest moments I’ve seen in Emmerdale for a long time. Another one making me cry. She was one of my favourite characters but we knew it was coming I guess #emmerdale @emmerdale." Emily Fleetham posted: "I was not expecting that. Sat sobbing at the tv again. Liv was one of my favourite characters in #Emmerdale and I will miss her so much." Brittany said: "#emmerdale I mean was it not bad enough killing off faith?!?!? heartbroken." Jazmin added: "Actually devastated with the characters we’re losing in #emmerdale man".

Ryan Glendenning posted: "Liv has gone my heart is broken Goodbye Liv you'll never be forgotten #Emmerdale." Logan added: "I promised myself that I wasn’t gonna cry, but I’m sat here with a broken heart and tears running down my face I’m gonna miss Liv so much, we miss you already @Isobel_steele #Emmerdale."

In a video shared on the Emmerdale social media accounts following the emotional scenes, actress Isobel said she "cried" when reading the script for her character's ending. She added how it had been "the best seven years of my life" before Bradley Johnson appeared and joked she needed to hand her pass back in to security and that she was "prolonging" her exit.
