Emmerdale viewers were baffled as David Metcalfe's money woes continued.
The character has been hit by financial trouble as his shop struggles to recover after the pandemic. Friday's edition of the long-running soap explored David's attempts to scam an insurance claim out of Nicola King.
The character, played by Matthew Wolfenden, was in a car crash with Nicola earlier this week and is feigning an injury to claim compensation. Victoria Sugden and Eric Pollard believed David's lie, but urged him to see a doctor to confirm the extent of his diagnosis.

David booked an appointment with Dr Liam Cavanagh who said he is suffering with whiplash. However, his plans faced disruption on tonight's show when Victoria was alerted to David's financial issues.
Priya Sharma informed Victoria that David had missed some payments, which prompted her into action. Victoria proceeded to sell her land so that David could make payments.
However, the shop owner was angered by Victoria's actions as he wanted to solve his problems without any help. However, viewers following the show on Twitter were distracted during the episode as they were confused when Priya revealed that Rishi Sharma was aware David was in debt.
Owen said: "I want to know how and when Rishi found out about David’s money issues before Victoria."
Luna added: "How did Rishi know about David's money problems?"
Other viewers took to the social media platform to blast the character for refusing the help and predicted his problems will spiral.
Shaky said: "David is becoming arrogant beyond belief and now alienates Jacob and Victoria. J and V you're better off walking away from David now"
Dan added: "David is gonna end up broke if he’s not careful he should be listening to Jacob & Victoria"
Emma commented : "The producers are definitely planning on writing David out for good"
