Emmerdale is set to air a powerful special episode of the soap aimed at tackling men’s mental health struggles.
During Friday evening’s episode of Emmerdale viewers will see some of the men from the village stay behind in The Woolpack for a lock-in. It is the first time the ITV soap has attempted an episode of such a nature.
It follows on from the focus on the mental health struggles of Paddy Dingle, played by Dominic Brunt, following the collapse of his marriage to Chas. As we’ve previously reported in the special, some Emmerdale favourites will speak openly about their struggles.

As Emmerdale fans know, Paddy recently fled the village following his split from Chas, he is now back home safely and Marlon wants to do anything to help his friend recover and wants to encourage the other men to open up.
For this ongoing storyline, Emmerdale has been working with mental health charities Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: "When we embarked on this heartbreaking storyline about Paddy's depression and attempted suicide we knew we wanted to shine a light on how important it is to just talk.
"Inspired by listening to real stories from the charity Andy's Man Club, we decided to have some of the men in our village come together for a very special episode which purely focuses on them and [sees] them talking about whatever they are feeling or thinking.

"If watching some of our most loved characters opening up to each other encourages just one person to reach out and start talking, we will be extremely thankful."
