Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has teased huge storylines ahead this summer, which will all kick off in the fallout to the big flashforward episodes.
It's been confirmed lives will be on the line as current storylines "explode", resulting in stunts, feuds reaching boiling point and secrets being revealed.
But the drama doesn't stop there, and the immediate fallout and the months that follow will be as equally as action-packed it seems, leading up to the show's 50th anniversary and beyond.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Laura revealed several characters will feature in huge new storylines coming up later this year.
She teased: "Looking ahead of the big week with other character groups, we'll be looking to continue Marlon's long recovery, and how this continues to affect his friends and family.
"We're also going to be playing another big health story this year for one of our characters that will have a huge affect on all those people close to them. Leyla's got a huge story coming up where a shocking secret is revealed and this will have huge ramifications for Liam and Jacob, in particular.
"Other storylines will see how couples navigate their problems as strong family units: Liv and Vinny will get a huge surprise that's going to impact them hugely and turn their lives upside down.
"Sam and Lydia will also have a big storyline that's going to see them pull together. I think the stories running through the summer are very much about strengthening some of our couples and seeing them fight for what they love and pushing one or two others to breaking point.
"Cain and Chas is our most-loved sibling pairing also have a lot going on as Faith's secret from the big week will impact on them.
"We're actually just about to start shooting a really special episode that honestly made me cry just reading the script as it explores more of their rich history and how their upbringing hugely affects their decisions they're making at the present.
"Beyond this week, we will certainly see that not all those decisions are good ones."
Laura also teased what was planned for the 50th anniversary celebrations, revealing: "We're still planning for our huge 50th golden birthday in the autumn.
"I think we're all absolutely really giddy about it here - it's just our big chance to showcase everything we do best and make sure every single one of our wonderful characters in the show gets a little bit of limelight.
"So there's definitely going to be something for everyone there."
