Emmerdale stars tease big changes to The Woolpack as new owners 'want modern look'

Emmerdale stars James Moore and Emma Atkins have spilled all on their characters becoming the new owners of The Woolpack pub.

They teased there could be some big changes in store too, when their characters Charity Dingle and Ryan Stocks officially take over.

It was confirmed on Thursday night's episode of the ITV soap that two village residents had bought the pub at auction, including a former owner of the venue.

Taking over once again, it was Charity who was now back in business and back behind the bar - as some fans correctly predicted.

But she wasn't alone, as a familiar face was revealed to have gone into business with her.

It was her son Ryan who was revealed to be the second new owner of the pub on Thursday's episode, leaving previous owners Chas Dingle and Marlon Dingle stunned.

Now, the stars playing the mother and son due have teased what viewers can expect from the big change - with the pub set to be refurbished after a devastating fire at Christmas.

Hinting at a more "modern" set-up, they teased The Woolpack would be as it was when it is refurbished, while also suggesting it won't be entirely the same.

James said: "I think Ryan may want to modernise the Woolpack and create more of a youthful vibe to the pub.

"As we know he is a computer wiz and I expect he will have good ideas for promoting the pub on social media et cetera. The pub is undergoing a large refurbishment at the moment and I can’t wait to see the changes they make."

He added: "I think the pub will operate as normal to begin with but I imagine Ryan would have some very good ideas about changing the vibe and energy in the pub and bring a modern touch to the space."

Emma also teased similar changes to the show venue, revealing: "The refurb is brilliant and well thought out.

"They manage to maintain that country pub style, with a modern twist, using a really vibrant velvet upholstery in wonderful autumnal colours. The new snug area is my favourite.

"During the design process, Ryan rightly points out the pub is also in need of wheelchair access and suggests one section of the bar be lowered in order to cater for everyone."

She went on: "I think it’s going to be a good old fashioned regular pub, with the potential for one off events to jazz it up a little.

"Charity, Mackenzie, Marlon and Ryan all want to have their say on the way it should be run. Marlon suggests bringing a modern twist to his menu, Mac fancies DJ events and Ryan is busy helping re-design the pub."

Suspicions fell on Kim Tate being the new owner after she was overheard sharing an interest in entering a bid.

Sure enough, Kim showed up at the pub just as the others had gathered to meet the new owner, leaving them convinced she was their new boss.

Chas asked Kim to stop leaving them waiting, but Kim had no idea what she was talking about and denied having bought the pub.

Suddenly, Charity and son Ryan rocked up in the car with Charity telling the group: "Sorry I'm late."

They were soon told to meet them outside the burned out pub, leaving Chas, Al, Marlon and Paddy suspicious (ITV)

They didn't think it was them though and continued to quiz Kim, as Charity had to interrupt to inform them they had got it all wrong.

As Charity tried to speak, Chas told her: "Shut up will you, I'm trying to find out who bought the pub."

Charity suddenly screamed out: "It's me you daft cow," before adding: "Sorry, we are, we are the new owners of The Woolpack... surprise!"

As she and Ryan smirked over their new venture, Chas and the others looked on in shock - but what will this mean for them?
