Emmerdale stars Lucy Pargeter and Michael Wildman have reacted to a looming twist on the ITV soap, that sees Chas Dingle kiss Al Chapman.
The pair, who have a long history and have been embroiled in a dangerous feud in recent months, seek comfort in one another - and one thing leads to another.
Chas and Al were at war last year when Al tried to trick her into selling the pub, leading to her almost losing it and her home entirely.
Al has further history with the Dingles thanks to him betraying Debbie Dingle, his drama with Charity Dingle and his dangerous rivalry with Chas' brother Cain, that almost got them killed recently.
New spoilers have now revealed that Chas' heartbreak over her mum Faith's cancer diagnosis will push her into the arms of Al, who is dealing with his own turmoil in upcoming episodes.
Chas actress Lucy and Al actor actor Michael have now both shared their thoughts on the latest moment between the pair.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, neither were surprised that the characters would face temptation once again, and that this time they act on it.
Lucy told us: "I think our characters, after everything that happened when we nearly went there before, we’ve almost encouraged those kinds of looks in scenes.
"When we’ve been in The Woolpack there's always been that love to hate relationship, and still that electricity, that little bit of fire.
"It’s hard to know where that boundary was between flirtation or hatred, and there's always that very fine line between 'I fancy the pants off you' and 'I really hate you'.
"It's been niggling for a long time so it was either gonna niggle forever, or something was gonna happen to put it to bed so to say or not."
Michael went on: "Why does she tolerate him so much even after The Woolpack stuff. How was he even allowed to walk in The Woolpack?
"She’s issued statements so many times, ‘stay away from me, stay away from my family’, but she still tolerates him.
"She still gives him the light of day even if the conversation is not particularly nice, she is still having that conversation with someone. He brings some of that fire out of her."
As Michael said Al was being "genuine", Lucy added: "She's always had a thing for a bad boy in the past."
On the kiss, Lucy explained: "It happens by accident really, she sees Al as an easy outlet to have a dig at but she hears from Belle that Al has been to his dad's funeral.
"Chas apologises and Al sees that as a way to offload to her about that and he’s trying to help her in offloading about her mum.
"It's that really weird connection of she hates him with a passion but he's offering that shoulder to offload onto, and offering that non-emotional connection and advice."
Michael also told us: "I think him and Chas connected a few times before, I don't think it’s a shock that the two of them can hold a conversation.
"Even given what has gone on previously with the stuff with The Woolpack, it wasn't a huge surprise to me. Their relationship is quite a mature one, whatever it is they’re always dealing with things about life.
"In these moments you actually see how, and I’m not saying they should be partners but they can certainly be friends because they connect on that level. He doesn't lack empathy, you do see remorse, guilt and understanding."
