Emmerdale fans will be "shocked" when they find out what Leyla Harding's secret is on the ITV soap later this year.
Leyla shares a mystery link with newcomer, and Vanessa Woodfield's new love interest, Suzy - but both ladies are keeping the truth under wraps.
In upcoming scenes, Leyla will be rattled when she comes face-to-face with Suzy - amid her sparking concern with cryptic phone calls.
Now, actress Martelle Edinborough, who plays Suzy on the ITV soap, has confirmed the duo are a little more than work colleagues, as Suzy claims to Vanessa next week.
Viewers will see Suzy reassure a panicked Leyla that she will continue to hide her secrets for her.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Martelle revealed when fans learn the truth about what Leyla has been hiding they will be "shocked" - while what comes next will also leave them stunned.
Teasing a real link between the characters that fans may not expect, she said: "Oh yes, very shocked. It's gonna be very good so that’s all I'm gonna say."
She added of the fact that Leyla and Suzy are more connected than they initially make out: "Yeah and I think that is what is gonna shock viewers the most, and what is to come.
"It’s very exciting stuff and I’m looking forward to playing out the scenes."
On how it might impact Suzy and Vanessa's romance, she went on: "I think it could have the potential to ruin things just from a palace of honesty, but time will tell, we will see."
Michelle Hardwick who plays Vanessa also had her say on the storyline, and Vanessa being initially oblivious to what is going on.
She said; "I think because Leyla works in wedding planning and events and that is what Suzy's job is, when she realises that they know each other it's that, 'oh that's a bit of a small world, what's gong on here then?'.
"Of course their two worlds with their jobs do collide so it's not then as extreme as she thinks it could be, so it's like great, we can all go out for a drink then!"
