Emmerdale actor Christopher Coghill has recounted an incident where a viewer struck him over the head with a handbag after being appalled with his on-screen antics.

Currently playing Kev Barton on the ITV soap, Coghill portrays his character as "a sympathetic psychopath, if you will". He explained that he holds no concerns about playing villains, having previously portrayed paedophile Tony King in EastEnders in 2008.
