Emmerdale star QUITS ITV soap for good after landing huge Hollywood role

Emmerdale star Ben Freeman has quit the ITV soap for good after picking up a role in Outlander.

The soap star, who played Scott Windsor in the Dales between 1998 and 2007, has reportedly landed a huge role in the upcoming season of Outlander.

Ben is set to play Corporal Woodbine in the popular US TV show.

Emmerdale fans suspected earlier this that Ben's character Scott could be making a return to the ITV soap amid an ongoing mental health storyline involving his younger sister Cathy.

When Cathy's mental health began to suffer, Scott stepped in off-screen to help and invited her to live with him in the Lake District.

Emmerdale fans predicted Scott's return to the village after Cathy's temporary departure.

One fan questioned: "Is Scott the big character who’s coming back to Emmerdale? Oooooh that would be interesting," and another added: "Cathy better bring Scott back otherwise she can stay away #emmerdale."

"Is Scott the big returnee later this year I wonder? #Emmerdale," a third fan asked.

She is currently staying with him on the ITV soap and although bosses have confirmed Cathy will return, it's now clear Scott will not be following her back to the village.

The soap actor, who also briefly starred in EastEnders as villain Caleb, is said to be thrilled with the new role.

“It’s a great role and fans will be delighted to see him in the show," a source told The Sun.

“Ben’s done a lot of stage work recently and his fans will love seeing him back on screens.”

During his time in Emmerdale, Scott certainly caused drama with a series of shocking storylines.

The character had a steamy affair with his own stepsister Kelly and fathered lesbian Zoe Tate's child before fleeing the village.

Since leaving the ITV soap, Ben has enjoyed a host of acting roles including a leading role in the 2023 movie The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan.

He has also performed in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a series of musicals in the West End and a host of movies in the US.
