Former Emmerdale star Kris Mochrie credits a major storyline in rival soap Coronation Street as saving his mum’s life.
The acting star played Lee Posner in Emmerdale back in 2019. He’s told fans of how his family owe so much to a Corrie storyline. In an Instagram post, Kris said: “This is my incredible, kind and extremely brave Mum.”
He added: “In 2009, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The only reason Mum checked herself was because of a storyline in Coronation Street where Sally Webster finds a lump in her breast.

"Mum made a full recovery thanks to acting quickly. Television saves lives. Storylines save lives. Sharing your stories and creating more awareness will save lives."
Sally Webster star Sally Dynevor received lots of praise for her portrayal in the Coronation Street storyline. Not least as she was diagnosed with the illness during the same period.
Kris added: “I’ll always be eternally grateful to the power of telly and in particular good old Corrie. Also the incredible treatment by our NHS and the team at Marie Curie who supported her from day one.”
