Emmerdale's Nicola Wheeler filmed three endings to the attack on her namesake character.
Nicola King was viciously attacked by a group of young girls, who set on her after she criticised them for drinking and told them she wouldn't buy them anymore. Nicola was cornered by them whilst alone when she split from Bernice and Laurel on a girls' night out.
The attack left Nicola struggling with panic attacks in the aftermath. Next week, things will hit home for her even more as she realises someone she knows - Naomi - was there during the attack and holds just as much responsibility as the other girls.
Initially, Naomi wasn't going to be part of Nicola's storyline, as bosses planned for her to enter as Charles' estranged daughter.
Speaking to Metro, Nicola said of the storyline "When the story was first pitched Naomi wasn’t part of it.
"But then the character of Naomi was coming into the show and I think it was Jane [Hudson], the exec. producer, who came along and said, 'Why don’t we link the two, so we can bring her in via this way as well?'"
She also revealed three endings were filmed for the attack as bosses decided how they wanted Naomi to be involved.
"We filmed three endings of whether Naomi was just looking, whether she was indifferent to the attack and whether she was apologetic and wanted to help me," she added.
"When Karene first came in I don’t think they knew which angle they were going. They knew it was a girl gang, they definitely knew that, but they didn’t know what angle they were going to play it from her point of view.
The whole attack on Nicola was filmed, as the main girl violently kicked her in the stomach, and horrifically assaulted her whilst the other girls laughed and watched on. She threw Nicola to the floor before reaching her arm out as if to help her up.
It was then the kicking begun as horrified fans rushed to social media to call out the horrific attack on Nicola.
