Emmerdale’s Nicola King is savagely attacked on the ITV soap next week by a group of teenagers, soap spoilers have now revealed.
Nicola, played by Nicola Wheeler, is fresh off a turbulent year with her husband Jimmy King (Nick Miles) on Emmerdale following a crash he was involved in, which resulted in the death of Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale).
The subsequent months after the explosive storyline saw him begin to develop feelings for Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and the pair even shared a kiss.
This was a lot for his wife Nicola to process, but the pair came through – although they are now headed for a new kind of heartbreak when Nicola is rushed to hospital.
The drama kicks off next week amid the ongoing council rivalry, when Laurel, Nicola and Bernice head out to a bar as a way of getting the two warring sisters to make up.
But the plan goes awry when Nicola heads off early, only to be quickly accosted by a group of teenage girls as she walks to her car.
The attack comes out of nowhere and Nicola is left blindsided when she’s mugged by the savage group and then left beaten, bloodied and unmoving. Will Nicola be able to recover from such devastating injuries?
The soap soon shows a bruised and beaten Nicola in a hospital bed as Jimmy, Laurel, Bernice and Rodney anxiously wait for answers as to what might have happened.
When a groggy Nicola finally wakes up and realises the extent of the ordeal, Jimmy questions her on the attack.
But in a twist, Nicola lies to her hubby, saying she can’t remember who attacked her, embarrassed to have been attacked by teenage girls.
Later, a disturbed Gabby reveals she has found a video of Nicola’s attack at the hands of a group of young girls.
Jimmy’s heart breaks for Nicola when he realises she was too embarrassed to speak to him truthfully about what happened.
Later, Nicola recounts the details of her attack to Harriet as she expresses worries her attackers will know her address, since they stole her wallet with her driving licence in it.
A tearful Nicola shares her worries they could even come to her home and attack her children.
As she confesses how she thought she was going to die, Jimmy is dismayed to see his wife so broken. Can Nicola recover from the traumatic attack?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
