Emmerdale is lining up big scenes, which all seem to hint at huge drama further into the year on the ITV soap and this week is no different.
Emotions are high in the Dales this week as Marlon returns home from hospital following his life changing stroke and his family struggle to come to terms with the lasting effects on his condition.
Jai and Laurel work work out their differences but things later take a turn for the worse when she finds a bag of drugs and presumes they are his.

Their bickering puts both of their jobs on the line as their squabbling irritates Kim.
Meanwhile Ethan has a difficult decision to make as his personal relationships and career overlap.

Marlon returns home but it's far from easy
April prepares welcome home decorations for her dads return, while Mary reassures her daughter she’s there to support her throughout his recovery.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Marlon thanks Gail and prepares to leave.
Back in the village, Cain and Chas watch from the pub as an emotional Marlon arrives back home.
Once he’s settled in, it’s slightly chaotic as they start to work out a way of going forward, challenges soon arise on all sides and it’s difficult for all.
April is pleased to spend time with her dad but when she helps her dad to a drink of water Marlon starts choking.
April is terrified believing he’s having another stroke and calls desperately for Rhona - both April and Marlon are left distraught.
The next day April arranges to spend time at a friend’s house rather than be at home.
Marlon despairs to see the stress his condition is placing on his family, adamant he should return to hospital.
Thankfully, Rhona steps in and plays mediator between a tearful April and Marlon but April insists she wants to talk to her father alone and an emotional conversation follows.
But can April convince her father, who feels like a burden, to stay with them at home?
The family begin to navigate their new future but Marlon finds it hard to communicate. Could Bear hold some answers?
The next day Rhona jumps back in at work at the vets helping Dawn with an injured dog.
Meanwhile, Marlon’s worried about family finances when Charity informs him he’ll have to go onto statutory sick pay. Rhona suggests she starts back part time to bring in some more money.
Jai's week goes from bad to worse
In other new Jai's week goes from bad to worse, Kim’s exasperated with him when she sees her staff on the picket line outside the HOP and immediately demotes him until he resolves the situation.
With the picket line deterring customers, Kim demands Jai gets her staff back inside but she’s stunned by his reaction.
The next day Kim’s furious she’s forced to waitress when a wealthy friend turns up for a coffee.
Before long Jai and Laurel meet with a stubborn Kim and present a case study against zero-hour contracts, hopeful they’ve made a difference.
That evening, Laurel arrives at Holdgate to tell Jai she wants to get properly back together after seeing the way he acted during the strike.
The two are elated to be finally reunited and Jai’s on top of the world, but it’s clear Kim is still bitter.
When Jai realises his wallet is missing he and Laurel return to Take A Vow to search but when they find it down the back of a chair, they’re shocked to discover a tiny bag of drugs.
Both Priya and Laurel accuse him of owning the drugs, a confused Jai struggles to find an explanation.
Assuming this is an admittance of guilt, Laurel explodes with rage. While Jai’s convinced Kim planted them.
The next day, Jai’s determined to win Laurel round, and when she finally entertains his story he almost collapses in relief.
But things take a turn when later that evening, Rishi tells a shocked Laurel about how the kids nearly caught Jai with the drugs when he came close to relapsing a few weeks ago.
And her anger comes to a boil, shocked at what the kids could have got mixed up with.
Jai fights tears as he realises he’s just lost everything, with Jai having managed to stay on at work soon, Jai and Laurel’s bickering behind the counter causes Kim to put both their jobs on the line.
Ethan's love life gets on track but his career hits a tricky case
Things are moving fast for Marcus and Ethan - Ethan is moving into Tall Trees and Marcus helps him.
On moving in day Ethan begs Charles not to wind Marcus up - but will he be able to resist?
Soon Ethan returns with good news about his job future and the two toast a successful day but the pair are frustrated when Ethan’s urgently called into work.
At the police station, Ethan meets Jordan who’s been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Determined to do a good job Ethan takes the case, but after having interviewed his client Ethan’s startled to see the CCTV image of Jordan’s victim.
Meanwhile in the hospital room, we see a beaten up Billy has sustained serious injuries and it becomes clear he is Jordan’s victim.
Over in the police station, Ethan declares although he knows Billy, there’s no conflict of interest but suggests to Jordan that he may prefer to seek alternative representation.
But Jordan’s adamant he wants Ethan as his legal counsel, leaving Ethan in an awkward position.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, a broken Billy tells Dawn the attack was racially aggravated.
Will and Dawn are certain that justice will prevail but Billy isn’t so sure.
Bumping into each other at the police station, Harriet encourages Ethan to withdraw from the case, warning how difficult this case will make his personal relationships.
