There's the devastating death of Faith Dingle, as she makes the decision to go through with her plan to end her life amid her cancer battle.
Before Faith's passing, her friend and village legend Diane Sugden makes her big return in time for the 50th anniversary episodes.
She's not the only one back though, with Tracy Metcalfe returning with daughter Frankie - leading to intimate scenes between Tracy and ex Nate Robinson next week.
Siblings Chas and Cain will face heartbreak next week as their mother Faith passes away - but Chas is actually absent when the tragedy occurs, as her affair with Al Chapman continues.
Faith dies and Cain distraught
Emmerdale spoilers have revealed Faith Dingle dies next week, and they have revealed emotional details about her final moments.
The character recently asked her daughter-in-law Moira Dingle to be with her when the time came, as she revealed plans to take her own life.
Faith is battling cancer, and her health has deteriorated in recent weeks with the cancer having spread.
Her difficult decision comes after she shared her concerns that as her cancer worsens, she fears could be in pain, become unable to communicate, and lose control of who she is - despite the best efforts of palliative care.
Now, new spoilers have confirmed when she will die as she passes away in scenes next week leaving her family devastated.
But despite her talks with Moira, it's revealed Faith decides to end her days alone without anywhere there - while her plan is soon rumbled by Cain, but it's too late to save her.
Devastated, Cain tries to keep her comfortable as she drifts closer towards death and soon she takes her final breath.
Cain is inconsolable as he realises his mother is gone, and soon Faith’s family and friends are left heartbroken by the news of her death.
Nate and Tracy get steamy
Emmerdale airs a reunion for exes Tracy Metcalfe and Nate Robinson next week, as the pair give into passion despite being with other people.
Tracy recently revealed she was dating someone knew, leaving Nate gutted - but it seems she's hiding an even bigger secret.
A few weeks ago, Nate began a new romance with Naomi Walters - but both Tracy and Nate realise next week they still have feelings for each other.
In upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, the pair give into temptation after Tracy arrives with their daughter Frankie.
Tracy fails to share her big news with Nate though, with it confirmed she is engaged to her new partner Ollie.
As she decides to break the news to him things get heated, and soon the pair become intimate and end up sleeping together.
Diane Sugden returns
Diane Sugden returns to the ITV soap next week for its 50th anniversary, amid the heartbreaking death of Faith Dingle.
Diane actress Elizabeth Estensen is reprising her role for a brief comeback, after quitting last year, tying in with the soap's milestone and the death of fan favourite Faith.
Faith gets to spend time with pal Diane as she makes a surprise return for Faith's final days.
She heads back to join Faith and others for a day with friends, to make memories with her before she passes away.
Estensen's character Diane had been at the heart of Emmerdale for more than two decades, before she quit the role in 2021.
On her decision to retire from the programme Elisabeth Estensen said: “For the past 22 years I have loved playing Diane Sugden - she’s kind, reliable and fiercely loyal.
“However, I now feel the time has come to say goodbye. Emmerdale will always remain special to me. I’ve been treated with respect and kindness and I’ve had the very best friends and colleagues, both past and present. I’ll miss everyone dearly.”
Chas and Al's affair heats up
Next week, Chas remains unaware of her mother's passing after fleeing her family for a day of passion with her fling Al.
Al even puts Chas' phone on silent, as her husband Paddy desperately calls her to alert her that her mother has died.
As the Dingles reel from Faith's death, Chas is completely in the dark amid her latest romp with Al in a hotel away from the village.
Chas has been struggling to cope with her mother's diagnosis and knowing she would soon be gone.
She's sought comfort in Al throughout, but she may end up regretting this next week when it costs her time with Faith in her final hours, and moments.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
