Emmerdale secrets unravel as character leaves village in episode moved online for World Cup

Another Emmerdale resident has uncovered the truth about Al Chapman's death as the village bade a teary goodbye to a much-loved friend.

Matty Barton has been working on learning the reason why his mum Moira Barton and brother Kyle suddenly left Emmerdale. During Wednesday's episode, he decides to confront Cain in prison, not knowing that he was jailed after covering for his 10-year-old son Kyle who had shot Al.

The prison visit does not bring the answers Matty had hoped for, so, desperate for answers, he sets a trap for his uncle Mackenzie Boyd. Cornering him in the kitchen, Matty pretends Cain had told him the truth at last but Mack quickly sees through the lie.

Already wracked with guilt about his affair with Chloe Harris, Mack decides to get at least one other secret off his chest and tells Matty why Moira and Kyle disappeared so suddenly - ie that Kyle shot Al. While the news seem to shock Matty, he appears more upset over the fact that no one had told him in the first place.

He storms off but is tracked down by a worried Mack. The two argue some more before Mack follows him to the pub.

Matty then threatens to tell everyone inside the pub if Mack continues to refuse to call Moira. Mack eventually gives in and when Matty finally gets to talk to her, he tells her: "Mum, you need to come home and bring Amy and Kyle with you.

"Don't lie to me, mum. Mack's told me everything. Mum, you need to come home or I don't know what I might do."

It is likely that this means the trio will now return to Emmerdale. Meanwhile, the village said goodbye to Vanessa Woodfield who is moving to Canada with her son Johnny.

Sadly, there is no happy ending for her and Suzy Merton who dumped her the day before. Also unwillingly single is David Metcalfe who lost Victoria Sugden after framing her for his driving offence.

Hoping to win her back, he spends more money he does not have on the shop. And Bernice Blackstock struggles to come to terms with her menopause diagnosis.
