Emmerdale's Vinny Dingle is playing a dangerous game and risks ending up behind bars just like his girlfriend Liv Flaherty.
The latest episode of the ITV soap saw Vinny visit Manpreet in hospital after finding out that Liv was going to remain in prison.
Monday's instalment saw a police officer inform Vinny that Manpreet's recollection of a confession from evil Meena Jutla wasn't enough to release Liv.
Poor Vinny broke down in tears as she sat by Manpreet's bedside and admitted he thought they were going to die when Meena held them hostage earlier this month.
"Thing is, and I wouldn't say this unless I was desperate for Liv, the police came to see me yesterday. I know how scary it must have been for you to give your statement...." he told her.
As Manpreet admitted it was, Vinny blurted out: "I don't think you've said enough to change it for Liv.There's got to be something else Manpreet, something more. Something we can do together, we need to give them some evidence."
Manpreet looked concerned at what Vinny was suggesting, as he continued: "All that matters is that we know that Liv didn't kill Ben."
"Yes we do and I've told that to the police," Manpreet replied. "I feel terribly guilty about what's happened to Liv. Meena is my sister and I'll never forgive myself."
Vinny responded: "You must have missed something, some sort of detail that'll point them to evidence!"
"I was drugged to the eyeballs," she replied. "I forced myself to remember but the detail of what she did to Ben, it's fuzzy still..."
Vinny lashed out as he shouted back: "That's not enough!" before apologising and suggesting that they plant some evidence featuring Meena's DNA.
Manpreet tried to talk him out of it - but the police were later seen turning up at the room Meena stayed in when she murdered Ben and said they were "acting on new information".
Charles later paid Vinny a visit and asked him: "Have you told your family you tried to get Manpreet to invent evidence?"
"Yeah I thought I'd leave that to you," Vinny replied. "Look, I'm sorry alright, I shouldn't have done it, but it's not really inventing it, it's just nudging things in the right direction."
"You'll end up in prison just as Liv's coming out," Charles then warned him.
It's unsure if Vinny go ahead with his dangerous plan, or if he'll just tell Liv the truth and leave the police to do their job.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
