Emmerdale's tragic Faith Dingle makes tear-jerking return to soap weeks after death

Emmerdale fans saw Faith Dingle for the final time on Friday night, as the character made a return for a touching scene on the day of her funeral.

Actress Sally Dexter reprised her role for one final scene as the loved character, as her family and friends said a final goodbye.

Earlier this month Faith died after she took her own life, as her health deteriorated during her battle with terminal cancer.

Her son Cain had found her but he was too late and she passed away in his arms, while her daughter Chas didn't get to say goodbye.

The siblings and their loved ones gathered at the church for their mother's funeral service during Friday's episode, and it emerged Faith had one last thing to say.

She asked for her pal Eric Pollard to read out a letter she had written, which had a message for her children and the other Dingles.

Faith spoke of her regrets in life, and being a bad parent - telling Cain and Chas she loved them more than she could ever say.

The character added that she did not want to be remembered by her cancer, but by who she was.

As the letter was being read out, the camera panned to a flashback from when Faith was alive and was writing the letter.

Faith was shown smiling as she began writing everything down, with Faith's voice also heard reading it out to everyone - taking over from Eric.

As the letter came to an end, Faith was seen placing the pen on the table before she looked up at the camera and smiled.

The episode then went back to the service as Cain and Chas, and others, were shown crying over Faith's final words.

Faith also appeared to encourage her loved ones not to be angry about her passing, with just Cain, Chas and a couple of others knowing the truth about her death.

The moving moment left viewers in tears, as others were thrilled to see the character for one last time on screen.

Taking to Twitter, one fan commented: "Faith’s final scene was so touching and that final glance to the viewer."

A second viewer tweeted: "That was so well done. A final smile at the camera. God, I'm gonna a miss Faith."

Another said: "Not going to lie the Faith scene got me," while a fourth said: "How lovely to see Faith again."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
