Posting on her Instagram story, Amy warned: “My mum just got sent this! Watch out for this scam!!!!!”
The message reads: “Hi mum, I’m texting from a friend’s phone because I’ve lost mine and their phone’s about to die, so can you text message me when you see this?”
Thankfully, Amy's mum realised something wasn't quite right and sent a screen shot of the message to her daughter who is now spreading the word to avoid anyone else being caught out.
Amy is currently on maternity leave having welcomed her first child, daughter Bonnie Mae, earlier this year. However, it has recently been revealed that the actress will return to the Dales later this year as Emmerdale celebrates it's 50th anniversary.
Soap bosses recently confirmed that Aaron Dingle, Diane Sugden and Tracy Metcalfe will all make a brief return for storylines later this year, teasing a "huge" story ahead for one of the three.
Speaking to Leeds Live, producers Jane Hudson and Kate Brooks spilled the beans on the returning characters as they discussed what the plans mean for the villagers.
Brooks said: “Diane, Aaron and Tracey will all be making a reappearance, all-be-it, on a temporary-basis. They will come back and be at the heart of some really big stories which will impact them and the lives of the characters they leave behind.”
Hudson, the show's chief executive producer, added: “We’ve got Dianne, Aaron and Tracey, who is coming back with a bit of news of her own, and how is Nate going to respond."
It is not yet known whether a full-time return is in the works for Amy's character.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
