Emmerdale's Suzanne Shaw’s life now from partner to children and health struggle

Suzanne Shaw first shot to fame in hit-making band Hear'Say. The now 41-year-old first joined the Popstars band when she was just 19.

The band achieved a sell-out arena tour and performed numerous television guest appearances. Since leaving the 90s pop group she's gone on to achieve a string of acting jobs including Emmerdale, she played the character of Eve Jenson in the soap.

She also won the third series of the ITV skating show Dancing on Ice in 2008 and participated in the 'All Stars' series in 2014. Away from her career credentials she's now a hands-on mum-of-two living in a luxury home in Berkshire.

Mental Health struggle

The actress recently opened up about her battle with anxiety and depression during her appearance on ITV1's Lorraine show.

Suzanne revealed that the early days of fame were 'tough' on her mental health. Speaking to the 63-year-old Scottish host, Suzanne said: "It was a really tough time. When I was a kid, I remember being a teenager and having my first major panic attack. It was quite severe and scary. I don’t really remember suffering with anxiety until after Hear’Say. It was such a big thing to go through - that overwhelming [feeling], that burnout manifested in depression."

She added: "At some points I would really fear leaving the house. I would be in bed. My self esteem was so low at times and I really do now know more about mental health.”

Speaking of giving up booze, Suzanne said: "I quit alcohol. I wasn’t an addict, but I was a middle lane drinker who used alcohol because that was the easier thing to get out of the mind chatter, but it was exasperating. I was feeling more anxious and more depressed. It had to go. I was having the beer fear every day."

Vegan weight-loss

Suzanne previously underwent a life changing transformation all thanks to her plant-based diet. Opening up on social media at the time, Suzanne told her followers: "At the beginning of 2020 I wanted to change my lifestyle but not like I’d done in the past...

"Starting a new regime for it to last eight weeks max and then fall off the health wagon and then try a new type of diet or fitness regime and a few months later, fail again and turn to the blame game! I wanted to TRULY change it and not let myself down for the 20th year in a row!"

The star opened up and told fans her 'happy plan' which she broke down into four areas of running, alcohol-free, plant based and mindfulness and meditation.

The star admitted that being on the booze led her on a path to end 'self loathing' after developing an 'unhealthy' habit with it.

Is Suzanna married and does she have children?

Suzanna has had a number of relationships with famous faces including Jason King and singing sensation Darren Day.

Darren and Suzanna welcomed son Corey in 2004 but sadly split a year later. Now the star is in a relationship with trainer Sam Greenfield and they also have a baby boy together.

Family life

Suzanne lives in Berkshire with partner Sam and her two boys Corey and Rafferty. The family moved in just before lockdown in 2020 and Suzanne regularly gives her fans a glimpse of her home on Instagram.

The huge pad boasts of a country kitchen, a large lush garden room and even a space to practise yoga.

Since turning vegan she's developed a new found passion for cooking and admits her kitchen is her favourite room in her home.

Kim Marsh spat

Suzanne and fellow bandmate Kym Marsh reportedly had a bust up after a string of arguments throughout their chart-topping journey, before Kym eventually left the band in 2002 to pursue a solo career, The Mirror reports.

Suzanne confirmed in 2014 that her friendship with Kym had ended, saying: "I haven't spoken to Kym in years. We don't stay in contact."

But it appears whatever sparked the rows during their time as bandmates has been put behind them as the pair were later pictured hugging at an industry event.
