Emmerdale's Nicola Wheeler has appeared to confirm that her character will be leaving the Dales after the ITV soap's explosive 50th anniversary.
Appearing on This Morning, the actress - who plays Nicola King - teased that something might happen during the big episodes that mean that she is unable to return to the village.
Opening up about her recent storyline - which sees he struggle after being attacked by thugs - Nicols said: "She thinks she's gathered her strength back but it gets worse and worse."
Host Phillip Schofield attempted to probe her about whether it could lead to her exit, asking: "And for you as the actor playing the character, is this a serious thing? Have you got plans to spend more time with the family?"
"It's been a very good storyline," she giggled awkwardly in response.
He added: "But there are many more that you're looking forward to?"
Laughing, she replied: "I can't tell you! No, I can tell you that something will come up in the future. Just when you think this story may have been put to bed, something else comes along.
"And then there's the 50th year and maybe something might happen which means she can't spend any more time in the village anymore. Who knows? I don't!"
Turning to Phil, Holly said: "Well done! You did very well there."
But Phil admitted: "I'll probably be in terrible trouble. Sharon Marshall will be texting me in a moment saying, 'What the hell are you doing?'"
"Ask Sharon," Nicola advised.
It comes as Nicola suffers a breakdown this week as she continues to struggle in the wake of the attack.
Nicola is left shaking when she hears a knock on the door and a shadow appears.
Relieved when it turns out to be Bernice (Samantha Giles), Nicola manages to hide her inner torment - but she's thrown when Bernice suggests she makes the pitch for the Green Initiative with her to the council.
As Bernice leaves, Nicola is left feeling like a prisoner in her own home and does her best to keep Rodney from leaving before pleading with Bernice to come over and help with the presentation, desperate not to be left alone.
A little while later, Nicola panics when she’s the only one available to pick up the kids from school and as she makes her way to her car to pick up the kids, she's overwhelmed by thoughts of her attack...
