Emmerdale viewers were confused as Marcus Dean made an "intense" admission to Ethan Anderson
Friday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the fallout after Ethan was racially assaulted. The lawyer was unconscious at the end of Thursday's programme after he was attacked by Jordan Greenlow.
Jordan was angered when Ethan decided he wouldn't defend him in court after he found out the character, played by Jack Parr, had once again confronted Billy Fletcher. Billy was alarmed when Ethan didn't return home from work and found him as he was being attacked.

Billy stalled Jordan while the police arrived, before he was arrested at the end of last night's programme. The characters were relieved at the start of tonight's show when doctors revealed Ethan would recover from his injuries.
The character, played by Emile John, has been enjoying a blossoming relationship with Marcus Dean in recent week. Marcus promised he would nurse Ethan back to full health as he returned home before he confessed he had fallen in love with him.
Marcus immediately regretted his outburst and was worried he had been too "intense". However, Ethan reassured him in the tender scene and also told Marcus he loved him.
However, viewers following the show on Twitter were distracted during the emotional scene as they were confused why Ethan had been discharged from hospital so quickly.
Gavin said: "Of course Ethan’s patched up and discharged from Our Lady of Hotten Memorial Hospital in half an episode"
Teena posted: "Amazing, Ethan’s made a fantastic recovery, the hospital is top notch…"
Owen commented: "Ethan’s home, Hotten General miracle workers strike again!"
Sophie tweeted: "Oh Christ Ethan is now out of Hotten G. Miracle workers them doc"
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub
