Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter issues verdict on character Chas Dingle's ITV soap future

Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter has issued a verdict on her future on the hit ITV soap. The star's fictional character Chas Dingle has caused quite a stir since joining the Yorkshire village in 2002.

Chas has since continued to be a key character in the programme and has been at the centre of major storyline including her dramatic affair with Al Chapman.

Paddy was distraught after he found out and this triggered his spiral into a depression. In an upcoming episode Chas is in for a soul-crushing reality check when Paddy firmly decides to go ahead with their divorce.

Lucy Pargeter is well known for her role as Chas Dingle in Emmerdale (ITV)

As Paddy has slowly been returning to his old self, Chas has been hoping the pair could work on their relationship and get back together. Paddy doesn’t seem to think the same as he believes her actions sent him to a dark place and that’s something he can’t forget.

Ahead of the dramatic scene Lucy took to Twitter and had a question and answer session with fans. She Tweeted: "I’m often amazed by people’s views and misconceptions of all aspects of my job and lifestyle. I guess this is mostly down to the things they read and see. If you wanted to ask one question, what would it be? Keep it clean and no abuse please, I’m genuinely interested."

One fan questioned: "Just wondered how come you've stayed in Emmerdale for so long don't you ever want to try anything else (though you are my favourite actress) I don't mean anything by this just genuinely interested."

Lucy reassured fans as she revealed she is happier than ever on Emmerdale and plans to stay for the foreseeable. She said: "My life is here and my job always keeps me on my toes. Until the day that they kill Chas off or I feel that I’m only there to pay my bills, Chas will be part of village life."
