Emmerdale's long lost Dingle to return after Marlon Dingle's health scare

An Emmerdale theory suggests a long lost member of the Dingle clan will be returning to the ITV soap.

There’s suggestions Eli Dingle, played by Joseph Gilgun, will soon return to Emmerdale to support brother Marlon Dingle in his health battle. Following his exit from the show, off-screen, Eli was arrested for some crimes he had committed but in 2010, his older brother bailed him out.

Marlon, played by Mark Charnock, will soon suffer a stroke in a major Emmerdale storyline. It is likely to change the lives of many in the village.

The Express reports the famous Dingle clan will rally together to support chef Marlon. The publication is suggesting Joseph Gilgun will return to the soap as Eli Dingle.

This is because Debbie Dingle is tied up with her new life in Scotland and a return for Aaron Dingle would be too painful given the trauma he experienced in the village. But it still doesn’t feel like a cert we’ll see Eli back in Emmerdale.

When acting star Joseph has briefly discussed returning to Emmerdale it has appeared like he’s left the soap in the past. So, he might take a lot of convincing to return even for a brief stint.

Since leaving Emmerdale, Joe has enjoyed a varied acting career. Fans of This Is England will know him as Woods.

While, he also played Rudy Wade in Misfits and he’s currently Vinnie in Brassic. Earlier in his career, like so many other acting talents who darted across soapland he had a part in Coronation Street as Jaime Armstrong.

We’ll keep you posted on a possible Emmerdale return for the character of Eli Dingle. While, as ever, we’ll bring you all the news of comings and goings in the village.
