Emmerdale's Lisa Riley bids farewell to 'show that made her' as ITV 'axes' You've Been Framed after 33 years

Emmerdale's Lisa Riley has paid tribute to the 'show that made her' following the news that ITV's You've Been Framed has reportedly been permanently cancelled.

It is understood the much-loved show will not return to our screens following its cancellation after nearly 33 years on air.

Bosses have reportedly pulled the plug on You've Been Framed!, which paid £250 to viewers who submitted humorous clips of accidents or funny moments. The show first aired in April 1990 and was first hosted by Jeremy Beadle before Lisa Riley took over in 1998 and Jonathan Wilkes in 2003.

The final You’ve Been Framed! aired in August 2022 and was hosted by comedian Harry Hill, who has narrated the show since 2004. ITV has now removed the series from its website.

Following the sad news, former host Lisa Riley, who now plays Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale, took to social media to reminisce on an 'incredible five years' as she stated she agrees with the decision that has been made.

Sharing a throwback snap of her time on the show, Lisa penned: "”YOU’VE BEEN FRAMED” I woke up this morning to loads of messages informing me that after many many many years “YBF” is leaving @itv it does make total sense this decision, as this format is now so readily available on streaming platforms.

"Personally I wanted to say the biggest thank you to the show, for five glorious years, full of non stop, fun-laughter, and to the individual people who taught me so much, for this I’m eternally grateful. The best part of this job was the FANTASTIC crews I worked with year after year.

"This programme was a terrific learning ground for young adults wanting to make it in TV, and so many of them whom I had the joy of working with, have now gone on to fabulous entertainment programmes in various Executive positions, not only in UK but around the world."

The soap star went on the thank her former You've Been Framed colleagues, she added: "Three delicious individuals Nigel Hall for laughter and more laughter, and then a bit more, our joint personalities made my day, and mostly you took a massive chance on me, and it paid off, at a time when there was no place for women hosting, on prime time Saturday night, the highest rated viewing figures, spoke for themselves.

"James Sunderland, the Queen who walked the gallery steps, a vision which sticks firmly in my head forever, your warmth as a beautiful human, has made you who you are today. And finally Karl Lucas my “Les Miz Onion” the most hilarious individual I’ve been so blessed to call a friend and work colleague, your zest fuelled energy, every single day, gave ME the energy to keep going, when I needed you the most, you were there, and with my beloved Mum, true true, friend. I only played a small part in its success all those years ago, back in 1998."

Before bidding a final goodbye to the show and thanking fans for watching, she concluded with: "So THANK YOU 'YBF' and here’s to a new generation of programmes. Love and thanks to YOU the viewers who have stuck with the show in its MILLIONS."

The post was quickly flooded with comments from fans who shared their happy memories of watching the show. One fan wrote: " I grew up watching you on YBF! The best host!", a second added: "Nooo I’m proper devastated, used to love watching this all the time", while a third agreed: "Loved that show! Especially when you were the host."
