Leyla Harding is being held captive by drug dealer Callum and it's not looking good for the Emmerdale businesswoman as it seems tragically fateful how the ordeal will come to an end.
In Wednesday's instalment, Leyla's (Roxy Shahidi) life hung in the balance as Callum's (Tom Ashley) plan to restore his reputation backfired.
He demanded the recovering addict transport a drugs haul for him but when the plan fell through Callum fell apart, announcing his plans to go on the run.
However, when Leyla dared to ask whether he would let her ago after assuring him she would not go to the police, the drug dealer assaulted the businesswoman.
Callum has already shut down the idea of simply letting Leyla go and with his plan in place to leave the country it seems the only thing left for him to do is kill Jacob's mum.
Emmerdale fans suspect Leyla doesn't have long left as they criticised the recovering addict's initial plan of hoping to pay Callum off.
One tweeted: "Why did Leyla think having damaged Callum's rep, as he so eloquently put it, she could pay him off? Loss of earnings? Do drug dealers of his calibre need money? #dumb #emmerdale."
"Leyla screaming. Give up, love. There’s nobody about except your local friendly kidnapper #Emmerdale," another wrote and a third said: "Leyla shot last year, kidnapped this year. Not the luckiest #Emmerdale."
Leyla's ordeal began when she and her friend Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) filmed Callum dealing drugs.
The drug dealer was subsequently arrested but the video didn't prove enough to charge him, meaning the police had to let him go.
Leyla found the courage and strength to overcome her drug addiction but her past has continued to haunt her.
Her addiction tore her family apart when Callum stabbed her son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and the drug dealer subsequently attacked Suzy when he discovered the incriminating video had been handed into the police.
Emmerdale airs on ITV on weekdays at 7pm.
