Things are hotting up in Emmerdale as Gabby lunges in for a kiss with newcomer Nicky but all doesn’t go according to plan.
Emmerdale viewers will know chemistry between the two characters has been developing in recent weeks. Nicky, played by Lewis Cope, is the nanny at Home Farm. Acting star Rosie Bentham, 21, who plays Gabby explains ‘the move’ happens after her character feels on cloud nine after bagging a promotion.
Rosie explained: “Gabby is just really excited. She sees her life going one way - upwards.”

Commenting on the growing connection between Gabby and Nicky, Rosie added: “She’s never had that before - a male being supportive of her. So, that’s making her even more head over heels. It is going to be really good and I think audiences will want us to be together.”
Although, in the first instance, things don’t look like going quite according to plan as Nicky isn’t so sure about Gabby’s advances.
Lewis, who joined Emmerdale at the end of the year, said: “I think we get carried away. I think Nicky is focusing on his job and thinks ‘we shouldn’t be doing this’.” Nicky said he feels the two characters would be perfect for each other if they met in different circumstances but perhaps not as things currently are.
“This leaves Gabby really confused as there have been very clear signals from Nicky,” Rosie added: “Obviously, Gabby has been rejected many times. Cool. So, she’s just like ‘here we go again’. He’s going to be around him all the time. She’s mortified and embarrassed.”
We’ll have to see how things pan out for the pair. Although, Rosie thinks Gabby is now finally over infamous ex Jamie Tate. As Emmerdale fans know, Jamie, played by Alexander Lincoln, disappeared in 2021 with villagers fearing he died after he crashed into a lake while driving.

The character is in fact alive unbeknownst to the villagers but, regardless, there’s no imminent sign of him returning. Rosie said: “Jamie was a whole world of emotions but I think that book is closed for her now. She’s trying to move on. She’s not out there looking for guys but one comes along who she really gets along with. It is nice she feels like someone might fancy her.”
