Emmerdale spoilers have revealed Faith Dingle dies next week, and they have revealed emotional details about her final moments.
The character recently asked her daughter-in-law Moira Dingle to be with her when the time came, as she revealed plans to take her own life.
Faith is battling cancer, and her health has deteriorated in recent weeks with the cancer having spread.
Her difficult decision comes after she shared her concerns that as her cancer worsens, she fears could be in pain, become unable to communicate, and lose control of who she is - despite the best efforts of palliative care.
Now, new spoilers have confirmed when she will die as she passes away in scenes next week leaving her family devastated.
But despite her talks with Moira, it's revealed Faith decides to end her days alone without anywhere there - while her plan is soon rumbled, but it's too late.
During a day with all her family, Faith hides her plan to end her life the following day from all of them and even tells Moira it won't be happening soon.
But as the family day comes to an end and Faith is taken to bed the following day, the reality is revealed as Faith turns off her phone, and as she gazes at photos of her loved ones a decision is made.
As Faith goes ahead with her plan, there's a shock as her son Cain Dingle walks in and realises what she has done.
Devastated, Cain tries to keep her comfortable as she drifts closer towards death and soon she takes her final breath.
Cain is inconsolable as he realises his mother is gone, and soon Faith’s family and friends are left heartbroken by the news of her death.
Emmerdale has been working with the nationwide organisation Dignity in Dying on the heartbreaking storyline, which will play out next week.
Dignity in Dying campaigns for a change in the law on assisted dying in order to allow this to be an option for terminally ill, mentally competent adults.
They have been providing research and personal testimony about the unimaginable choice Faith is contemplating - one that hundreds of terminally ill people every year are forced to resort to under the UK’s current law.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
